Smell is Stunning and the Craftsmanship is spectacular! Would make an amazing Gift!

I am giving these Beeswax candles 4 stars, leaning more towards 5 stars because the wax is amazing and so is the quality of craftsmanship that went into shaping them into the two beautifully carved/shaped cylinder candles that they are.You can smell the luxurious scent of these candles the moment you open the box, the smell is just intoxicating in the more wonderful way. There are few scents that can beat the calming raw smell smell of this type of wax. You instantly know they are quality made just from the smell of good beeswax candles alone! In my opinion there is nothing more beautiful than these types of candles being used as part of your home decor. Their natural color just adds such a flare to any candle holder and they are exceptional when used as part of a dinner table arrangement. The only downside to these type of candles is the price tag. They are on the expensive side. These small pillar candles in particular are rather high but you are paying for a top quality beeswax candle and with these , the quality is totally there. It would have been nice though to see them at least with the little plastic cups at the bottom like some very similar candles do come with.Overall, they are stunning and smell absolutely beautiful in the most natural way and when you purchase them it feels good to know you would be supporting Canadian beekeepers which is so very important, to all of us!

Really nice beeswax pillar candles.

What I like:- Clean burning- Wonderful aroma of natural beeswax.- Good size for a long burn time.- Nicely packaged in eco friendly packaging. There are some cautionary notes included with the product:- Make sure to trim the excess wick to be about 4-7 mm before use.- If it starts to smoke, trim the wick to 4-7 mm to stop it from smoking, of course blow out the candle before use and let it cool down first.- Do not leave burning for more than 3 hours continuously.- Avoid drafts.- If a side starts to drip, blow it out and let it cool down before re-igniting. These don't sit inside of a glass container which is why this caution is needed.Nothing really special with these warnings, just common pillar candle knowledge for beginners. This is really a wonderful product and it produces a nice and clean light source, better than paraffin wax.

Stellar beeswax candles (+ they smell incredible!)

This is the sixth type of beeswax product I have ordered from Canadian Hive and I am a *big* fan.All of their products are thoughtfully packaged and arrive with a sweet little thank sticker from the bees - this always makes me smile. :)Previously I have tried Canadian Hive's large pillar, their tall tapers, two types of tealights, votives plus their cosmetic grade chocolate bar of wax ~ all of which are stellar.~ Foremost - the scent is always incredible - as soon as you open the box you're met with that sweet, luscious beeswax aroma - which is just intoxicating.( I'll never understand why people would want a 'scented' candle when beeswax smells so delicious! )It is difficult to tell from the listing photos how big they are but these are short pillars - so each candle is about 2 inches tall and 7.25 inches in circumference. The wax itself is made by Quebec bees who collect wildflower nectar and i swear you can almost smell the flowers in this candle ~it's just absolutely incredible. These candles burn super clean. Even when you blow them out the smoke is minimal - and i believe the use of cotton wicks helps with this.I only burn beeswax candles because they are 100% natural and actually have therapeutic properties ( due to the release of negative ions - which, in effect, cleanse indoor air by neutralizing pollutants, allergens, and airborne toxins..)Most candles are filled with nasty and harmful synthetic fragrance so for scent-sensitive individuals - these are a superior choice. One of the best parts about beeswax is the warm glow they give when you burn them - even a single candle can create a cozier ambience. In my experience high quality beeswax candles burn for a very long time - I have yet to burn these all the way through yet but one of the great things about beeswax is it takes well to being extinguished and relit multiple times. The brand claims these have a 20 hour burn time - which i find to be reasonable given that their votives burned for about 12 hours and their tealights burned for about 6 hours.TIP:If you want your candles to last longer - take it from a beeswax candle lover - put your candles in the fridge or freezer for some time before lighting them. I find this really helps extend the burn time and it helps them to burn more evenly. It should maybe be mentioned as well that online markets are now full of 'fake' beeswax (which is essentially a petroleum-derived wax that is meant to mimic the properties of natural, real beeswax ) - so if that's something you're concerned about - these are absolutely *not that* - they're the real deal. These are top quality beeswax candles. Consistently good with every product i've tried. What I love the most is that you can tell these were made by hand, by people who hold reverence for the bees who create the wax. You can really feel that in the end product and in my opinion this makes such a difference in quality.Another excellent product - all of the stars!

Clean burning and have a wonderful beeswax fragrance

The Canadian Hive 2pcs 100% Pure Canadian Beeswax Pillar Candles burn cleanly and have a delicious natural beeswax fragrance. They are handmade by a small Canadian company based in Quebec. The wick is thick and 100% cotton. There are 2 candles in the package, and each candle is just under 2 inches tall and about 2.25 inches across.I trimmed the wick to about 7mm and let the candle burn for a little over 2 hours. It had a fairly large flame, and it burned one side a little more than the other in the second hour. I should have put it out and trimmed the wick a little more because when I extinguished it, the wick had a crook leaning to that side. The last three photos in my review show the candle at one hour, 2 hours and after it was put out. Each candle has a burn time of 20 hours, and it is recommended to only have them lit for a maximum of 3 hours at a time. I really like these candles and will use them to create a pleasant, relaxing atmosphere while I am reading. They could be used for meditation as well. They are nice way to treat myself.

Pure beeswax candle.

These candles are perfectly made and fit easily into my little votive candle holders. They were well padded and arrived safely, and they look lovely. They burn cleanly with no smoke, although my air purifier kicked into high gear when I blew them out (that’s probably quite normal). They are pretty expensive for such small candles but I assume that’s because they are pure beeswax. I had them lit for a couple of hours and they didn’t melt down much at all, there is still plenty of candle left. I plan to save them for special occasions.

Love these

These candles are very nice. Great size and there is no scent that i could detect.I really like that these are purely Canadian and I admit, it's nice to light a candle and know that it is not releasing unsafe and unhealthy chemicals into the air.The only issue and why I rated this 4 stars is due to the fact that when you remove the flame, there is mure smoke than I care for. it's not strong enough to set off the fire alarm, but I feel it is more than most.

Good candles

These 100% pure beeswax candles are great. Two come in the package and they are a good size, that burns for a good amount of time. I only use beeswax candles as they clean the air and aren't bad for your lungs. There isn't really a smell to these and they create a nice ambient space. Maybe a light scent but nothing that would trigger you. They are similarly priced to other beeswax candles.

Cutest little mini pillar candles with that cozy warm honey smell

This two piece pillar candle set is beautiful and smells the pure warm honey and is divine! You can tell these candles are high quality just by the dark yellow colouring and true honey smell that is characteristic of beeswax. They burn well with no drip and are smoke free. They are also Canadian made by beekeepers who practice sustainable beekeeping practices which is clear in the quality and performance of these candles.Packaging is also nice and sealed and would make the perfect gift idea!

These ruined other beeswax candles for me honestly

I own an embarrassing number of candles from this company at this point lol. But seriously, the quality is unreal. I’m kind of obsessed with beeswax candles in general because I love the natural honey scent, the cozy warm glow, and how much cleaner they burn compared to regular candles. These are easily some of the best I’ve tried. The first thing I noticed was the colour, they have this rich deep golden yellow/orange tone that looks so much more natural and beautiful than the pale beeswax candles you usually see. The scent is also stronger in the best way. Not artificial at all, just that warm sweet beeswax smell. They burn super evenly and really slowly too. I’ve had issues with tunneling or dripping from other brands, but these burn very cleanly and last forever. The cotton wicks seem really well made. I also love that they’re handmade in Canada and use pure Canadian beeswax. You can genuinely tell these aren’t mass-produced cheap candles. They make my whole space feel cozy and calm, especially in the evenings or while reading. Tbh I light these more than any other candle. If you already like beeswax candles, these are absolutely worth it. And if you’ve never tried beeswax before, this is honestly a great place to start.

smell divine but pricey for size

2pcs 100% Pure Canadian Beeswax Pillar Candle are on the smallish side. I’ve gotten their beeswax before to make my own candles and it is the real deal and smells fantastic so when I saw they had candles already made I thought I’d skip a step but they were smaller than expected for quite the hefty price (even though I know what goes into it). They are beautifully done though, zero defects and perfect but nothing elaborate or any kind of design, just simple cylindrically shaped. Wrapped in tissue paper in a cardboard box. Interesting to note, which I have never seen anywhere is that they have a maximum burn time of 3 hours at a time so I had to google why which is interesting for all candles. Anyways, it smells divine, they are perfect but way overpriced for the size.

Clean, Slow‑Burning Beeswax Pillars

I immediately noticed how clean and steady the flame is—no smoke, no weird chemical smell, just that subtle natural honey scent you only get from real beeswax. They burn slowly and evenly, and the no‑drip claim actually holds up; even after a long evening burn during meditation, the sides stayed intact and didn’t pool or make a mess. The cotton wicks light easily and don’t mushroom, and the candles themselves feel dense and well‑made, not hollow or cheap like some “beeswax blends.” They add a warm, cozy glow to the room and feel like a genuinely higher‑quality alternative to regular paraffin pillars.

Great candles, smells exactly like honey

I really like these candles. While it is technically unscented, it is still beeswax. Meaning it will smell like honey. The candles are a bit on teh short side, but wide, so fully burning will take them some time. The candles are made of 100% Canadian beeswax, which I am a fan off, no other chemicals, all natural with a cotton wick. Always happy to support a Canadian company.Since it is beeswax there is nothing dripping and there is no excessive black smoke. They are great for simple meditation, relaxation or even burning incense sticks. Since the scent is not very strong, they will not clash with other incenses. I am a big fan of that.It is recommended to not let it burn for more than 3 hours continuously. After 3 hours let it cool down and then use again.I full used up one of the two candles and the burn time overall was indeed close to 20 hours. Overall, I am a fan of the candles. I just would have appreciated a better presentation package so that they can be directly given as a gift.

Decent candles, but not quite as pleasant as past orders from this brand

So this is only my second pillar beeswax candle I have ever owned. However, I think I am getting a good feel for what makes a good candle in this category. I also have ordered some beeswax tea candles, but dont consider them a good base for experience with these. To start, I am comparing this to a larger beeswax candle around the same price as these two candles. I would say the volume of wax is about the same, with a slight edge to my larger candle based on a wider diameter. But weight says they are the same. Here is how these directly compare:-The wick length was a bit too long on these for the candle size. It should have been trimmed shorter. Easily fixed though, just be aware that you may wish to trim a third off for a flame size more consistent with the candle size and diameter.-The colour of these were a bit lighter than my other candle which had a deeper honey richness to it. I also found it had a richer less chemical sent than these when burned. In fact, the other candle didnt feel chemical at all. Just a natural beeswax sent. These have a bit of a chemical edge to the smell. That said, both candles are the same brand. So, it is odd that candles from the same brand differ like this, but I guess it could be as simple as differently sourced hives of bees that pollinate from different flora. Now for a more technical rundown based on my research of what makes a good candle:-Cotton wick (good)-Even burn without tunnelling-Lack of soot production.-Quality wax that burns slowly-This one says dye free.So for the price of this candle, one would have to expect extremely high results in the above categories. For wax quality, Im sure most of us appreciate true bees wax as a quality ingredient sustainably harvested. And this candle checks the wax type tick box.For how clean it burns: so far, so good. I have seen no black smoke or soot buildup from this candle. I do see the occassional black poof from the flame however. That is likely due to the wick being a bit too long to start with. For wick: well they list it as cotton, and while I have no way to prove that, it certainly does seem like what it is made from. For burn time: it does seem to be burning quite slowly. I found this true of the other bees wax candle I ordered. So this may be a nice feature of bees wax. I could see that beeswax likely would not have volatiles that would evaporate off quickly. More chemical based candles could potentially have this resulting in faster burns. For tunnelling: Tunnelling is going to take some time to evaluate since this candle burns so slowly. Currently the melt does seem to be concentrated at the centre, and that suggests that tunnelling may result. If it does end up with significant tunnelling, I will edit my review. I have a sneaking suspicion it is going to tunnel slightly. So far I am happy to have a couple more beeswax candles, but I dont find these quite so pleasant as my other one from the same brand.

Best Beeswax Products

I’ve bought three different products from this company, and I’m still always impressed with the quality. These beeswax pillar candles are high quality. You can tell they’re handmade with care and skill. Plus, knowing they’re made in Québec from 100% pure Canadian beeswax and support local beekeepers makes them even more special. The burn quality is excellent. The flame is bright, steady, and clean, with minimal smoke and no messy dripping. They last a long time and create a warm, cozy atmosphere in the home. I also appreciate that they’re completely free of synthetic fragrances and chemicals—just the naturally light, sweet scent of pure beeswax. The cotton wicks burn consistently, and the company’s overall eco-friendly approach really stands out. It’s rare to find products that combine sustainability, craftsmanship, and top-tier quality so seamlessly.I highly recommend these candles and the company overall.
